First Communion

011eerstecommunie

After baptism, a child belongs to God. But to fully participate in the life of the Church it is important to take the next step: Celebrating the Eucharist. This is celebrated in a special manner when children take their First Communion. It is then that they, for the first and hopefully not the last time, take part in the ‘Meal of the Lord’.

Preparation
The preparation for First Communion for primary school children (usually group 4) is identical for the entire parish of St. Joris (St. George). It is a celebration for the whole parish when the youngest generation celebrates the sacrament of the Eucharist. It is in church, around the Lord’s alter, that we celebrate our faith; that we are a family in Christ!

First Communion 2021
Receiving Jesus through the Eucharist for the first time is a significant event, a celebration that is often shared with close family and the parish. First Communion in 2021 shall take place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 June at 11.00 hrs. in the St. Joris church.
